Activities within the Center
Throughout the year whatever the weather, Castell Howell offers something for everyone. At the heart of the complex is a large heated indoor swimming pool, infants pool and sauna, with changing rooms and showers.. Also for your use is a squash court, and a small multi gym.
Visit our bar, situated in the actual complex, for a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, where our staff are always happy and on-hand to help. Regular entertainment is held in the function room upstairs, including Bingo, disco & karaoke, and various hired performing artists. Although our cottages provide excellent cooking facilities, Castell Howell also offers the chance for you to sample our delicious home-cooked food in the cosy surroundings of our restaurant. During the summer months barbecues are frequently held o n the patio.
Outdoors you can explore the surrounding countryside with numerous walks, and visit various animals around the park such as deer, emu, and peacocks, all of which are extremely tame and friendly. Also outdoors is our all weather tennis court .Clay pigeon shoots are held every other Sunday open to everyone, booking is needed though. At the top of the valley is where you will discover the beautifully tranquil lake stocked with coarse fish.
The area surrounding Castell Howell is full of spectacular scenery, sandy coves, picturesque towns and attractions. A short distance away is the beautiful fishing village of New Quay, with its pretty beaches, local shops, and regular boat trips where seals and dolphins are regularly spotted, New Quay makes a great family day out. For a more adventurous day out visit Llangrannog where a dry-ski slope can be found. A short drive away is Oakwood theme park, Fantasy farm park, an Animalarium, and a butterfly house, all make a brilliant day out for the whole family. For a more relaxing time, and golf enthusiasts, there are courses situated in the neighbouring towns of Cardigan, Camarthen, and Aberystwyth.
The area is well-known for its historic flour and woollen mills, craft centres, castles, narrow gauge railways, gold and silver mines. All the surrounding towns hold weekly markets, and a monthly horse sale is held at Llanybydder.
There is an abundance of unspoilt natural beauty surrounding Castell Howell;rugged coastal paths, colourful wild flowers and rolling hills, with Buzzards and Red kites circling the sky…….Castell Howell makes the ideal centre for a memorable family holiday throughout the changing seasons.
Indoor Heated Swimming pool
At the heart of the Leisure Centre is a heated indoor swimming pool (36 feet by 18 feet), baby splash pool and sauna.

Indoor Squash Courts
We have a squash court in the leisure centre for the more energetic people. The lights work off coin metres, rackets and balls are available behind the bar.
Restaurant & Bar
Although the cottages provide excellent cooking facilities, Castell Howell can also offer you the chance to enjoy delicious home cooked food from the Castell Bar. Children and vegetarians are not forgotten, as you will see from our varied menu. Barbeques are organised every Friday during the school holidays on the patio outside the bar or, if necessary indoors, in the function room.
You will find the Castell Bar to be a relaxing meeting place for chatting with our friendly locals and our other residents. (click to enlarge pictures)
Tennis
We have an outdoor, all-weather tennis court. Again, tennis rackets and balls can be loaned out on request from behind the bar.
Clay Pigeon Shooting
Clay pigeon shoots are regularly organised at the top of the valley in which Castell Howell is situated.
Wildlife
Various wildlife roam the park including Peacocks, deer and an Emu. If you like walking, you will find in the valley an abundance of wildlife to observe. Less than a mile away we have a family of rare Red Kites who regularly fly overhead.
